Final Course Reflection
Final Course Reflection
Write 500-600 words reflecting on your experience this semester.
What did you learn about creativity and your own creative styles?
What did you learn about your work habits and the process of completing large projects and how to get work done?
What did you learn about working in a group and collaborating?
What in the course was difficult and challenged you?
What did you enjoy? What was engaging or interesting?
How did you grow or change? Think back to the beginning of the semester (legos and drawings and games in class and learning about different creative people) and compare to your final creative manifesto project.
What did you learn about yourself as a student and as a person?
What might you apply from this class to future classes or future life outside of school?
This semester I learned to embrace new creative styles and I got to enjoy the freedom of allowing my creativity to run wild. I found out that great things come from the smallest amount of inspiration. This semester taught me how to be a creative person because of projects, group work, and improv. I tried new things and I learned new things. I stepped outside my comfort zone. Being creative has never been hard for me, but after this class, I think I now find creativity in things I didn't find it before.
I have always had pretty good work habits, getting things in on time and I've completed them thoroughly end well. This class didn't really change that because I've always had these natural good habits. I really enjoyed completing large projects because they felt more inspired and having a distinct set of rules to follow helped me.
While working in a group and collaborating, I got to know my fellow classmates. I learned how to be a better teammate and how to cooperate with people I might not like. group work this semester was very enjoyable and we had intriguing projects. For example, while working with Izzy Toby, and Lachlan on our dance, I got to know those three. At soccer practice, Izzy and I would pass the soccer ball a little, and we hadn’t before this project. Group work was a big part of the Improv and Creativity class, it built new friendships and taught me a lot.
This course was a pretty easy course for me. As I mentioned earlier, creativity comes easy to me, so I didn't really learn that much about creativity. However, I did learn a lot about improv. I learned that it's hard to go on a stage in front of people and do silly dances, but that's what makes us human. I learned about new materials in the Arts and Crafts world. I learned how to engage the audience and draw them in. Performing in front of people was a challenge to me in the beginning, I've been in place before but never a big role. I would say I had a little bit of stage fright. I'm not usually a nervous person but when it comes to showcasing something other than my talents, that can be new for me.
I highly enjoyed the creative projects such as the last one we did, our final. I felt I was free to indulge in my creativity. I think everyone in the class really enjoy the last project because we were given the reins. I enjoyed the arts and crafts perspective of this class more than the Improv. I learned more about Improv but arts and crafts is my thing so I will always enjoy that more than anything else.
This semester, I grew in ways such as my acting skills, my dancing skills, and my communicative skills. It's hard moving to a new school with people that you've never met before but the comforting fact about this high school is that every other freshman is new. This allowed us to make new connections and find the people that we fit with. Once we did that we were able to express ourselves in ways we wouldn't with people we didn't know. From the beginning of the semester to the end you can really see how everyone grew and got comfortable with each other. At the beginning of the year, I was unsure about how to express myself at this new school. In the end, you can really see how much I learned and how I got comfortable with creativity on a day-to-day basis in this class.
I learned about myself that when pushed to the Limit I can make great things. I learned that creativity comes from the most unexpected places. I learned that walks in the woods clear the senses yet at the same time create a fresh palette to use. Being creative in these new ways was a new experience for me. I learned more about my creative intuition as a person this semester.
From this class, I can take away where to find creativity and how to find it. From this class, I can take away all the things I learned and all of the experiences I shared with my classmates. I can take away the fact that despite this being my fourth high school in a year and a half, I did great and I learned new things. I made new friends, I experienced new things, and best of all I learned so much more about myself.
