Final Course Reflection

Final Course Reflection  Write 500-600 words reflecting on your experience this semester.  What did you learn about creativity and your own creative styles? What did you learn about your work habits and the process of completing large projects and how to get work done? What did you learn about working in a group and collaborating? What in the course was difficult and challenged you? What did you enjoy? What was engaging or interesting? How did you grow or change? Think back to the beginning of the semester (legos and drawings and games in class and learning about different creative people) and compare to your final creative manifesto project. What did you learn about yourself as a student and as a person? What might you apply from this class to future classes or future life outside of school?   This semester I learned to embrace new creative styles and I got to enjoy the freedom of allowing my creativity to run wild. I found out that great things come from the smal...

Improv Manifesto -Window to the Soul

Image
https://youtu.be/nHxii6QlUZQ Window to the soul My name is Niamh Keating and I am a ninth-grade student at Cheshire Academy. I have lived all around the world and I really enjoy art. This piece is supposed to represent the view of different people. The squares are representative of windows, differently colored and sized because everyone sees things differently. I titled this piece “Window to the Soul” because there is a saying that ‘your eyes are the window to your soul’. This piece is special to me because I've always had trouble drawing eyes, but I feel like I finally got it right this time. This is a mixed media piece of artwork. In this piece, I used watercolor, graphite pencils, and pages from a book. I decided to make the quotes from the pages in the book actually mean something instead of putting random words there. I felt like the quotes draw the audience in rather than just random words. I chose to make all the watercolor squares differently shaped and colored becau...

Quotes and Creativity

“Think differently” T his quote is from the book ‘Embrace your weird’ by Felicia Day. In order to be creative, you must think differently. Sometimes it’s hard to not be a sheep, to take the less popular road. Often the greatest achievements and greatest art come from branching out. I like to imagine that I think differently. My mother chose to give me a unique life. This can be a good and bad thing. For instance, I have a greater understanding of the world we live in. But, because of this, I have a harder time relating to other students. I think that because I have seen so much of the world and the people in it I can understand different views and opinions better. At least I hope so.  “Everyone is going forward” This quote is from ‘The Principles of Uncertainty'  by Maira Kalman. This shows that everyone is growing, physically and mentally. No matter if someone or something holds you back, you can still choose to move forward. This quote is a source of empowerment for pe...

Reflective Blog post

My group was Izzy, Lachlan, Toby Reflective Blog post -- Post on your blog the link to your group's video and the reflective writing (400 words): What was difficult about this project and what was easy? What was interesting, surprising, frustrating? What changed the most from the beginning to the end of the project? What were your group dynamics like? How well was your group able to improvise, share ideas, share leadership, etc.? How did your group use the principles of improv in their collaboration? What specifically did you contribute to the group? Lastly, what worked and what needed more work in your project?  In my group, we collaborated very well. We were all leaders and we all had ideas for this project. I enjoyed this project because it was a way for me to get to know people I wouldn't have necessarily talked to if I wasn't partnered with them. The difficult part about this project is connecting all of our inspiration. Nobody's inspiration is ever the same. Eve...

Improv Theater Unit Task 1: “Silent Walk” and Shape Collection

During the Walk Use the map to plan a path to walk. We will stagger your start times so that you have a little physical space from others.  Set an alarm on your phone for 15 minutes, and listen to Song A on repeat as you walk. Observe everything around you and notice how the song influences your mood, what you see, and how you interpret what you see.                                     Song A:                                    Yellow By Coldplay (Instrumental version)                                    Word: Yellow                                    Song B:  ...

Reflection Of Creativity Project (Dress)

Write about your process from the original walk around CA campus to your final creation. -Explain where you got the most information -where you got stuck or frustrated -how did your partner artist help you -if your final creation was what you set out to do originally -Include your thoughts about your critique -if you made the second iteration of your creation, what would you change? (minimum 100 words) Include photos of your final creation, your moodboard, your research sketches, your concept illustration, and the process of building your creation (include tid bits about the process) [All photos are at the end of my reflection] My creating stemmed from our forest walk around campus. I wanted to create something that had a twist on the way I view nature. My mood board was based on art, nature, and modern politics and how they affect everyday life. Unfortunately, in the end, I decided to just make my project about nature - life, and death especially. I thought it was too much to in...
